Please let Sam, Ralph, Mark, Nick or Rob know that you are available to play/help in any capacity.

Finances:

Many thanks to those club members who already pay via Standing Order. If you would like to reap the benefits of this, including a sizeable financial saving each season, please speak to club treasurer Nick Drewry (nickdrewry@hotmail.co.uk).

There are a few players who owe their annual membership fee for 2013. Please hand this to your captain, or the treasurer as a matter of urgency, as unpaid up players risk not being selected for cricket.

Full playing member - £40

Junior/seeking employment - £20

(Half season memberships for recently joined members – ½ of the above).

With all the excellent Fundraising events being run, we are moving towards a position of fiscal strength, that will allow us to, in the short term purchase a roll-on net cage, and source sight screens. Longer term, we are raising finds to further improve the playing facility by purchasing a sit on roller, with the aim to provide a division 1 wicket for division 1 cricket one day soon.

If you work for a small business, or know someone who owns one, or merely a kind hearted person who would be keen to sponsor/support the club in any way- [no support too small], please get in touch with treasurer Nick Drewry.

Rougham Cricket Club

Last Man Standing

Premier League Fixtures 2013/14

This is an invite to join Rougham Cricket Club's Last Man Standing (LMS) competition for The Barclays Premier League Football Fixtures during the upcoming 2013/14 season.

The rules are simple: just pick the winner of one premier league match each week. If your selection wins, you progress to the next round. Lose or draw, and you are out. The winner will be the last man standing, whilst all others have been eliminated.

Please note, that you may not pick the same team to win more than once during the tournament. For example: If you select Hull in Week One, and they beat Chelsea, you will then have to choose from all the remaining 19 teams (except Hull) in Week Two, and so on. Once Tournament One finishes, a new one will then begin, and all players will be invited to join Tournament Two and so on, throughout the season.

The entrance fee, per person, per tournament is £5.00.

You may choose to enter twice at the start of each tournament. If you enter twice, paying £10.00 in total, you will play as two separate players. For example Joe Root 'A' and Joe Root 'B'. Once a tournament commences, no new players will be allowed to join.

PAYMENT:

I will include the full set of rules to entrants as an attachment. These are also available on the club website www.rougham.play-cricket.com

If you would like to take part, please make your electronic payment to the club and email me your selection from Week 1s fixtures below, before noon (1200) on Saturday 17th August.

Tournament One

Week One - Weekend Round

Saturday 17th August

Liverpool vs Stoke

Arsenal vs Aston Villa

Norwich vs Everton

Sunderland vs Fulham

West Brom vs Southampton

West Ham vs Cardiff

Swansea vs Man Utd

Sunday 18th August

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham

Chelsea vs Hull

Monday 19th August

Man City vs Newcastle

If you have any questions at all, I am very happy to assist, so please feel free to contact me. As I am organising the tournaments, I will send my selection out to all taking part. Hopefully, we can all have some fun, pitting our footballing wits against each other during the cricketing off-season, and raise some funds for the club in the meantime.

Don't forget, each tournament will have 50% of the entrance fees up for grabs as the prize fund. The more people that play, the better for everybody!

Thanks,

Super Horse.

Cricket Update:

At the time of going to press, the 1st team sit in second place, and set for a ground-breaking promotion to Division 1. The second team continue to grow, with many new members playing for the club, with the focus on participation for younger players, ably supported by the ‘senior pros’.

Ground news:

The pitch is playing fabulously – owing to the sterling work of Jason Boor. The annual ground day, where we put the square to bed, and complete other vital miscellaneous jobs will closely follow the conclusion of the playing season. Jason will share this date with all once the services of SCGC have been secured.

Annual End of Season Awards Dinner.

Following the success of last year’s event, the Presentation Dinner will again be held at the Flying Fortress on Friday 4th October. Standing Order members receive one free ticket. Tickets to other members as well as friends and family will be available to purchase. More details will follow in the next newsletter/correspondence.
